Common questions from parents.
Does my student need the app?
Yes. Your student builds their school list in Calmpus on iOS and exports it as a JSON file. They can share that file with you however you two share things.
Do I need an account?
For the research portal, no. Just upload the JSON file. Everything stays in your browser's local storage — no sign-up, no server upload. The parent portal is the linked account view if you want ongoing visibility.
Can I edit my student's list?
You can add your own notes for each school, but the school list itself is read-only. It's their list — you're adding your perspective.
What is the difference between the research portal and the parent portal?
The research portal is a no-account, browser-only review of a one-time export. The parent portal is a linked account view for ongoing visibility as the list changes.
Does the parent portal cost extra?
No. The parent portal is included with the Family plan — there's no separate parent subscription right now.
How long does my data stay?
In the research portal, 30 days in your browser, then it's automatically cleared. You can clear it yourself at any time by clicking 'Start Over' on the research page.
